2015 ‘We Are TCA’ School Exhibition at Makuhari Messe
“We are TCA 2015,” the graduation and year-end project exhibition for Tokyo Communication Arts College students, was held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7. Nearly 1,900 people came to see the student exhibits over the two days of the exhibition.
Since the very beginning Tokyo Communication Arts College has been training the professionals industry needs for the workplace through a unique curriculum created in collaboration with corporations and other organizations. The foundation for this collaborative curriculum is firmly based on cooperative education with industry focusing on corporate projects. These corporate projects exhibited at the event, along with manga debut projects, illustration debut projects, and other students works, represent the culmination of the students’ efforts over a one-year period.
This year students gave presentations on projects from forty-one leading Japanese companies. These projects came from companies such as the Toyota Motor Company—“The Toyota Design Proposal Focusing on the Next-Next Motor Show”; the Sega Corporation—“Hatsune Miku CG animation project”; and from the DIC Graphics Corporation—“DIC Promotion Tool.”
The exhibition also featured projects from fields stretching beyond design to include the areas comprising ECO communication. These projects were created by students aspiring to become professionals in the pet, animals, and oceans industry. Masanori Hata, honorary educational advisor for the school, also visited the student exhibition, bringing a sense of excitement to the venue.
Collaborative education with industry has always been an integral part of the professional training provided by the Jikei Group. The fruits of these corporate projects on display at the We Are TCA exhibition demonstrate the professional level of work our students are able to produce.
