Summer Test Prep Classes for Jikei Grads

This spring the Jikei Group of Colleges launched the Restart program at the National Examination Preparation Center for Jikei graduates preparing to take national examinations. These summer session national examination preparation classes were opened for the first time at 5 locations across the country with the base of operations centered in Osaka.

The Jikei Group of Colleges believes that each and every student is important and strives to put that philosophy into practice. Accordingly, the Jikei Group has established the Restart Program as part of its efforts to provide systematic support to Jikei graduates getting ready to take national examinations. Osaka College of High Technology served as the flagship school for the summer program, and test preparation classes were held throughout Japan at Hokkaido College of Medical Sports, Sendai College of Medical Health, Tokyo College of Medical Sports, and Fukuoka College of Medical Sports. Approximately 50 students attended took part in the program.

Jikei Group of Colleges Chairperson Kunihiko Ukifune delivered a message of encouragement to the participants in the program at each the schools live over the Internet. In his message, Chairperson Ukifune urged the students to transform this into an important opportunity for learning rather than just one for acquiring knowledge and also encouraged them to be proactive in the future. After Chairperson Ukifune’s speech, the instructors for the program gave instructions and words of caution to the students, who then took on the challenge of a 200-queston mock examination covering basic subjects.

The results of the mock examination from each of the five centers across the country were tallied while the students conducted a self-analysis. An expert from the National Examination Preparation Center went over the questions and the answers from the mock test online with the students at each center simultaneously.

At the end of the class, one of the participants shared his feelings saying, “I honestly feel that I don’t have the time to balance work and study. But I’m really happy that I forced myself to come there today and take part. I found my weaknesses, and I want to start studying from tomorrow in the same way we did today.” The class seems to have been a good opportunity to re-motivate students.

This was the first attempt to use the Jikei Group of Colleges’ J-Web E-learning System to tally mock test results from across the country. The center provided explanations and feedback to students across the country on the spot via a live broadcast which was made possible through the strength of the Jikei Group’s network and mobility. The participants were able to thoroughly analyze their weaknesses and confirm the most important points with everyone, further deepening their understanding.

At the National Examination Restart Center, we want to deliver support which places importance on each and every student to enable many students to achieve success on national examinations, through standardized mock tests and other initiatives with more national examination candidates in the future.
