The National Examination Preparation Center for the Jikei Group of Colleges has finished compiling the national examination results for the 2013 academic year. The total number of students sitting national examinations exceeded 5000 students for the entire group, and the number of departments with a 100% pass rate increased by 10 departments at 4 schools to reach a total of 41 departments at 24 schools. Moreover, Toyo Medical College Dental Technician Department students obtained a 100% success rate for the 23rd straight year, an achievement unparalleled throughout Japan.

Students at Saitama College of Welfare and Sapporo Belle epoque College of Beauty performed exceptionally well. The students in the Social Worker Training Program bested the national average of 51.7% by 45.8% to reach a success rate of 97.5%, and the students in the Beautician Department Correspondence Course achieved a pass rate of 88.5%, significantly higher than the national average of 59.9%.

Group Strength Produces Excellent Results

Mr. Inaoka, head of the National Examination Preparation Center, provided these comments regarding the results for last year’s examinations: “I think the fact that all of the subcommittees for national qualifications worked very hard to improve the pass rate and that we were able to intensify our efforts which leverage our group’s strengths, such as employing standardized mock examinations, helped us improve our results across the board. Another major factor was the efforts made by departments which had been designated priority departments for test preparation, such as occupational therapist, judo therapist, and social worker departments as well as non-designated departments such as orthoptic departments.”

Among the departments which achieved a 100% success rate, the Dental Hygienist Department at Hokkaido College of High Technology (3-year daytime program) and the Orthoptist Department at Tokyo College of Medico-Pharmaco Technology recorded a 100% pass rate for 12 consecutive years. Additionally, the Shin Osaka Dental Hygienist College Dental Hygienist Department achieved a 100% success rate for the 6th year in a row.

National Examination Restart Center

The favorable results seen this year are the direct result of initiatives put in place last year. Firstly, the National Test Preparation Center worked to stimulate the activities of committees comprised of faculty members working in departments with students studying to acquire the same qualifications. Secondly, the center moved forward with efforts focusing on strengthening the standardized mock examination system.

The National Examination Restart Center was also established this year and is open to all students in the Jikei Group. The center enables the Jikei Group to provide complete support for students who were not able to achieve success on their initial attempts at the examination. The center provides ongoing support for both current students and students who have already graduated.
