Tokyo College of Biotechnology Starts Green Papaya Cooperative Research Project

Tokyo College of Biotechnology has partnered with Kazusa DNA Research Institute and Chiba Nosan Corporation to engage in a cooperative graduation research project involving corporate, government, and academic entities. Commencement of the project has already been announced on Kazusa DNA Research Institute’s website.   The current research project will focus on development of processed foods using green papayas grown in Chiba Prefecture. Green papayas are eaten in Africa and warm regions in Japan such as Okinawa and Kagoshima, and they are harvested before they ripen when they are still yellow in color. Tokyo College of Medico-Pharmaco Technology Attend Retreat in Chiba Prefecture

Eighty-two first- and second-year students from the Clinical Engineering Technician Department (3-Year Program) at Tokyo College of Medico-Pharmaco Technology took part in a field trip from July 16 to 19 of this year at Kamogawa Seinen Youth Center, a training retreat center for young people located in Kamogawa City, Chiba Prefecture.   The retreat was the culmination of a team-based problem-solving program the students had been working on in classes since April designed to help them develop fundamental adult skills including initiative-taking skills, thinking skills, and team-work skills.   The first-year students conducted activities in the gymnasium, working together and … Continue reading

Jikei Group holds 13th International Affairs Meeting

The Jikei Group of Colleges International Center, Headquarters hosted the 13th Jikei Group of Colleges International Affairs meeting on July 28 and 29 at the Biwako Club, the group’s training facility and retreat located in Shiga Prefecture. More than seventy people from international affairs-related departments in the Jikei Group and partner organizations participated in the meeting, including representatives from the international offices in the United States, Europe, Australia, China, and Korea. The Jikei Group of Colleges hosted the Semester in Japan Program once again, welcoming five students and one professor from the University of West Florida (UWF) to Japan for five weeks. E-Sports Team from Tokyo College of Anime Competes in International College Cup in Wuhan, China

Road Creation, a team of six students from Tokyo College of Anime, represented Japan in the League of Legends International College Cup held from July 13-17 in the Chinese city of Wuhan. League of Legends is one of the world’s most popular multiplayer online battle arena games, and the students are all currently E-Sports Comprehensive Programing Majors.   The students intensified their training regime, practicing day and night, once the decision had been made that they would participate in the tournament as the strongest team in Japan. Berklee College of Music and Tokyo School of Music and Dance and its sister school Tokyo School of Music Shibuya held a signing ceremony on April 10 on the fourth floor of the Tokyo International Forum. As partner institutions, the schools will engage in a 2+2 transfer program via credit transfer. The Jikei Group of Colleges and the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education Sign Partnership Agreement

The Jikei Group of Colleges and the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education concluded a partnership agreement for the Jikei Group to deliver specially tailored classes on professional education to high schools. The agreement was formally signed by Jikei Group Chairperson Kunihiko Ukifune and Osaka Prefecture School Superintendent Masahiro Mukai at a ceremony held at the Osaka Prefecture Government House in Osaka City’s Chuo Ward on December 21. Kobe College of Medical Welfare, Sanda Campus, signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with the city of Sanda in Hyogo Prefecture on November 30. The agreement covers a range of topics including social welfare and community disaster prevention. Osaka Jikei Gakuen to Build New College in Okayama Prefecture

Osaka Jikei Gakuen School Corporation broke ground for a new school in the city of Mimasaka–provisionally named Mimasaka College of Sports, Medicine, and Nursing–at a ceremony held on December 13. Osaka Jikei Gakuen was invited by the city of Mimasaka, located in Okayama Prefecture, to build a school there as part of its efforts to revitalize local communities. The ceremony was attended by officials from Mimasaka City and the Jikei Group, including Mayor Seiji Hagiwara and Jikei Group Chairperson Kunihiko Ukifune. The school is scheduled to open in March of 2018.

Students in Hokkaido Sell Bagels to Raise Money for the Victims of Tohoku and Kumamoto Earthquakes

Students at Hokkaido College of High Technology made donations in support of the victims of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami and the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquakes through the Eniwa Council of Social Welfare on November 17.   At the request of the city of Eniwa, students from Hokkaido College of High Technology sold pumpkin bagels baked in the Biotechnology Department at Michi to Kawa no Eki “Hana Road Eniwa” as part of the school’s cooperative education with industry and government program.   Pumpkin bagels have been sold and distributed at many different events and were born out of the Yumechikara … Continue reading
