Symphony Hall Relaunched under Jikei Management

  The Jikei Group of Colleges formally took over management of the Symphony Hall from Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in January 2014. The Symphony Hall first opened its doors in 1982 as Japan’s first classical music hall and boasts a history of over 30 years. Herbert von Karajan conducted the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Symphony Hall in 1984 and declared the hall’s acoustics to be the best in the world. ISPO Global Educators Meeting in Kobe

  The ISPO (International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics) Educational Committee has decided to hold the first ISPO Global Educators Meeting from June 25-27, 2014 in Kobe, Japan.   The 3-day event will bring together prosthetics and orthotics educators, school officials, NGOs, related-organizations, and interested industry representatives from around the world to raise the level of prosthetics and orthotics education as well as strengthen and deepen prosthetics and orthotics expertise globally by broadening coordination between prosthetics and orthotics schools. Training Course Held for Keimyung College Faculty Members and Administrators

  The Jikei Group welcomed 7 administrators and 8 faculty members from Keimyung College for 4 days of training from December 10 to 13 of last year. Located in Daegu, South Korea, Keimyung College is one of the Jikei Group’s educational partner institutions and sends faculty members and administrators to the Jikei Group for training each year as part of our educational partnership agreement.   Keimyung College has embarked on an effort to develop a new curriculum based on the dual aspects of cooperative education with industry and professional education.   The Jikei Group of Colleges was honored to welcome a delegation from Highline Community College in Tokyo on November 12, 2013. Guests included Dr. Jack Bermingham, President of Highline Community College; Dr. Lisa Skari, Vice President; Patti Rosendahl, Executive Assistant to the President; and Madison Gridley, Alumni Coordinator. US-Japan Social Welfare Symposium

  The 16th Annual US-Japan Social Welfare Symposium was held on October 30, 2013, at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. The Gateway to Tomorrow: Students Make a Difference While Gaining Real-World Theatrical Experience

  The student-led production of The Gateway to Tomorrow, a musical promoting bone marrow transplant and leukemia awareness in Japan, was held in Tokyo and Osaka in September and October 2013. This year’s performances marked the 20th anniversary of the inaugural performance of the Gateway to Tomorrow.   The Gateway to Tomorrow was conceived, written, produced, and performed by students from a number of Jikei Group schools across the country. Sparkling Wine Produced by Tokyo College of Biotechnology Students as Graduation Project Goes on Sale

Sparkling wine created by students as a graduation project has become a commercial product. The story is included in the digital pamphlet written by Mr. Kawabe.   Sparkling wine produced by students from the Brewing Program at Tokyo College of Biotechnology has been chosen to become a commercial wine by Hisa Kawabe, an oenologist at Takahata Winery (Takahata Town, Higashiokitama District, Yamagata Prefecture). Many students from the Jikei Group attended.   The Social Business Forum in Osaka welcomed Nobel Peace Prize recipient Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Westin Hotel Osaka on Saturday, July 27. Over 400 students attended the forum from institutions such as Kwansei Gakuin University, Kansai University, Ritsumeikan University, Doshisha University, and Kobe College together with 100 students from 11 colleges in the Jikei Group of Colleges including Osaka College of Medical Technology, Osaka College of Health and Welfare, and Osaka Communication Arts.
